My Writing Coaching Background

Dr. Elizabeth-Anne Stewart at Ghahn Tuffieha Bay, Malta

A Poet's Perspective

As a poet, I know the precise word to create emphasis, clarity and even an emotional reaction; as a public speaker, I intuitively play with the sounds of words and phrases, using the musicality of English to communicate a memorable written or spoken experience.

A Coach's Encouragement

Have you always wanted to write a book but wonder whether you have anything worth saying—or how to get started? Do you have a collection of short stories or poems that you hope to publish but don't know where to begin? Are you working on a writing project that needs organization, development, and more creative energy? Do you have a presentation coming up but need some professional support? As a Writing Coach, I am here to help with every phase of your project, from brainstorming to revisions, offering guidance that lets YOUR work shine!  I will support and encourage you through doubts, fears, and insecurities; I will also be honest with you so that you can hone your writing skills.

Although I specialize in Writing Coaching, I am also an experienced editor. I have worked on projects of every kind --  poetry and fiction manuscripts, websites, speeches, sermons,  research papers, grad school applications, dissertations, and more. My approach is to stay faithful to the author's content and style while making the text more readable, expanding underdeveloped passages, deleting extraneous material, correcting basic grammar errors, and arranging ideas in a logical sequence.

Born in England, raised in England and on the Mediterranean island of Malta, I have always been a wordsmith. Even as a child, I read voraciously and wrote poems and plays; in high school, I edited the school magazine, ran both the drama club and the debating society, and, as "Head Girl" (School Captain), was often called upon to deliver speeches to visiting dignitaries. Not surprisingly, I chose to study English at the University of Malta. Later, as a graduate assistant at DePaul University, Chicago, I worked in the Writing Program as a tutor; that's when I discovered my love of teaching and came to be known as "The Great Motivator."  Nothing gives me greater pleasure than helping clients develop their voice and use their language skills to communicate more effectively.
